Kahu wrote a story about a Possum for IRO208W Possum

Last year, my brother, Mum and Gary and I were sitting outside having a friendly talk when we hear a rustle in our avo tree.  We froze.  As we listened, there it was again.

Gary said, “Sh, sh! Stop talking”.

It was a peaceful summer night and it was dead silent, apart from the rustling in the tree.

Gary went inside to find his spotlight to see what was in the tree.

While Gary was finding his spotlight we were guessing what it was.  Taimana thought it was a cat, Mum thought it was a rat and I thought it was a cat chasing a rat.  Gary silently stepped out of the door and crept toward the tree.  He turned on the light.  It lit up the whole tree.  Staring right back at us were two big red eyes and a large body.

Gary whispered, “a possum”.  It ran off into the thick leaves of the tree, never to be seen again.
